Lands End Compound, Shelburne, Vermont

Our master plan for this shingle-style family compound, overlooking Lake Champlain, creates a clean and elegant setting. Located on a rolling meadow, the geometry of the architecture is extended into the landscape thru stone walls and hedges – creating a casual yet refined landscape set within the agrarian landscape.
Wagner Hodgson worked closely with the architect to assemble the arrangement of structures that define the compound.  Stone gate posts and a winding drive lined with planted mature trees guide one to the entry court. The main house, carriage barn and guesthouse embrace a stone entry court and provides a sense of arrival for visitors and owners alike.  Each structure is offered lake views through a scrim of mature oak trees along the shore that were edited to remove invasive plants and improive the health of the existing vegetation.
The large pool, spa, terrace, pergola and fire pit are a gathering space for the extended family.
