Dale Schafer

With over 25 years of experience, Dale Schafer is known for his collaborative and rigorous approach to design that is at the intersection of art, civil engineering and architecture. His body of work spans all scales and types – from urban design, public parks, waterfront and campus projects. Dale brings in-depth knowledge and passion for plants of diverse climactic regions. Dale heads the Hudson, New York studio of Wagner Hodgson, after having spent 13 years in the Hudson area restoring his fallow 33-acre farm into meadows, orchards and lush perennial gardens.

He has worked for leading design firms in Southern California, San Francisco, Boston and New York City, most recently at Thomas Balsley Associates where he managed the design effort for Hunter’s Point South Waterfront Park, Queens; Macombs Dam Park, Bronx; Sheik Khalifa Medical City, Abu Dhabi; University of Albany, Albany; and Hunters Point Shipyard/Candlestick Park Master Plan, San Francisco. Dale received his Masters of Landscape Architecture from UC Berkeley and his Bachelor of Landscape Architecture from Utah State University and is a licensed landscape architect in New York and Massachusetts.
