Marble Mill Park, Swanton, Vermont
Wagner Hodgson is currently working on a master plan for the historic Marble Mill Park, on the banks of the Missiquoi River. The site contains the remnants of the Barney Marble Mills which operated on the site from about 1850 until 1938. Over the years the park had become run down and underutilized. The town was not happy with the activites that had moved into the park and citizens avoided it. Recent floods had added to the current condition of the park. A series of public outreach events along with a social media campaign solicited input from all types of citizens and user groups. The project looks to reinvigorate the property by celebrating the remnants, introducing a river walk, greatly improving accessibility and visibility, providing a new natural playground, new tennis court and pickleball courts.
