One Taylor Street, Montpelier, Vermont

Wagner Hodgson worked closely with the City and the design team to plan a mixed-use redevelopment project along the banks of the Winooski River on the site of a former parking lot /  junkyard. The complex site needed to accommodate a multi-modal transit hub, complex circulation, a streetscape for a portion of Taylor Street, parking, an expanded multi-use path along the river, a river overlook and 30 housing units upstairs. The site is extremely tight and required close coordination between all disciplines in order to integrate the proposed uses. In addition the site contained contaminated soils, flood zone restrictions and a historic granite riverbank wall. A series of public presentstions were made to gather public input and to answer questions regarding the project.  This project is funded through a Federal Highway Administration Grant, a Federal Transit Administration Grant, the City of Montpelier and a partnership with Housing Vermont and Downstreet Housing and Community Development for the housing aspect of the building.
