plymouth state university, langdon woods residence halls, plymouth, new hampshire
A Master Plan was developed which identified six residence halls, community buildings, parking and open space to be implemented in two phases. The residential community is organized along a landform overlooking an ecologically sensitive intermittent stream which traverses campus. Phase One includes 380-beds in four brick buildings arranged in a faceted linear alignment reminiscent of the granite outcroppings of New Hampshire. A series of south facing outdoor gathering areas contain native granite seatwalls, bluestone terraces, and indigenous plant materials weaving together the existing woodland and this campus expansion. The new residential community has been designed for LEED certification utilizing bio-swales for stormwater treatment, native plant materials, full cut-off exterior lighting, sustainable building materials and energy systems. Gold LEED Certification.
