Kingston Waterfront Plaza, Kingston, New York

The Kingston Waterfront Plaza is a mixed-use development along the Rondout Creek located in Kingston, New York. The project is one of the first to be built in the flood plain that responds to climate change projections. As a result, the design team saw a unique opportunity to create a two-tiered plaza. The two levels offer areas for gathering under trees, walking to and from shops, while “pier” like extrusions give visitors views of the waterfront. The plaza spaces support the first floor commercial and are a great outdoor amenity for residences on the second and third floors, all while animating and activating Kingston’s waterfront.
