SUNY INNER HARBOR WATER RESEARCH & EDUCATION CENTER, Syracuse, NY

ON THE BOARDS: A $20 million grant was awarded to the joint SUNY College of Environmental Science and Forestry/Onondaga Community College by Governor Cuomo.  The proposed facility that will bring research, educational opportunities, tourism and sustainable development to the shores of Onondaga Lake.  Scientists from SUNY ESF, the Upstate Freshwater Institute and the Onondaga Environmental Institute will monitor changes to the lake ecosystems.  Wagner Hodgson worked closely with the architects, developers and SUNY ESF faculty, staff and students to create a preliminary master plan for the facility.  As plans move forward this collaboration will become even more involved, creating a destination for the public to learn about this natural amenity.
