Datum House, Western Massachusetts

Datum House is a 147-acre modern homestead perched within a rural landscape of wooded hillsides and small farms. An inspiring visual relationship with distant mountains offers an organizing framework for planning the site. Designed to accommodate a large family with a passion for the Arts, the landscape is envisioned to be both a refuge and place for cultural expression. While views are paramount, the project goals were to restore the ecological and agrarian integrity of the neglected landscape with a sustained commitment to land stewardship, and to foster an approach to the designed landscape that is embedded in the character of the region.
