Glass Modern, Weston, Massachusetts
This modern home in Weston, MA received renovations and additions by Flavin Architects. Wagner Hodgson worked closely with the architect and client to design a new landscape for the home taking into account a sloping site, adjacent wetlands, and ledge outcroppings. The project included a renovation of the existing pool terrace and pergola and new additions to the landscape around the home. At the front of the house, a series of lawn terraces are retained by recycled steel I-beams. Stone steps lead to a large, stately entrance to the home. And a new glass front facade projects over the sloping site. A stepped retaining wall elegantly separates the front walk from the auto court. Taking cues from the architecture, the lines of the house are extended into the landscape, creating outdoor rooms and lawn spaces for recreation and relaxation. The owner’s collection of sculptures is strategically placed around the property offering vantage points from the approach and from inside the home. Ornamental grasses, concrete stucco walls, stone terraces, and accent lighting in the landscape complement the home.
