Sugar Maple Farm, Dover Plains, NY

Situated on a promontory within New York State’s Taconic Mountain range, this family retreat is designed to capture distant views across the Hudson Valley. The property is set within a working maple syrup farm, allowing the character of the surrounding forests to inform the design. WHLA designed the arrival sequence along a series of ponds and outcroppings. Closer to the house, hillside paths connect lawn terraces with the firepit overlook and swimming pool. This approach integrates native plantings and repurposed stone from the site, forming a landscape that reflects the surrounding terrain.
