Topnotch Resort & Spa Expansion, stowe, vermont

As a part of the restaurant and Lodge renovation, Wagner Hodgson worked closely with the architects and owners to organize the renovations around a large central courtyard with the mountains as a backdrop.  Extensive, new multi-level terraces were added to work with the grade change.  These terraces house a lap pool, an adult pool with infinity edge, spas and a fountain.  An arc path borders all of the terraces connecting them and unifying the various angles of the architectural expansion. Native stone walls transition between the different levels and are punctuated by Copper Fire Basins which will provide year-round interest and warmth.  The Copper Fire Basins will become somewhat of a defining site element and were repeated in future expansion projects, lending a sense of continuity and way-finding.

More recently Topnotch Resort and Spa has completed a $15 million renovation and 7,000-square-foot expansion.  The project includes a new guest-arrival lobby and two new restaurants, as well as new outdoor spaces featuring a fire pit, a bridal/entertainment pavilion, a bocce ball court, and seating for restaurant patrons. The resort’s parking area has been reconfigured to improve the entry experience, and copper fire basins have been added at the entrance to welcome guests at night.
